Scott Hanselman (and many others) recently blogged about Windows Live Writer. Being a Mac guy and a TextMate user, I’ve composed my blog posts in TextMate and copied them into a text field in Typo when I was ready to post.

I did this mostly because it was a relatively painless workflow and old habits die hard :) Silly me, I didn’t even look at TextMate’s excellent support for blogging. So now I’m happily posting (and editing) blog entries from TextMate.

My problem is that I’m only a part-time Mac guy. I still pay my mortgage with Windows. Adopting a new editor is a painful experience, and I need to settle on one that works on both platforms. I’ve been using emacs for quite a while now (RubyCLR is mostly written using emacs), but I’m concerned about its longer term effects on my hands. I’ve been forcing myself to use vim more and more these days since it’s both easier on my hands and it’s pre-installed on every platform under the sun.

So while all of the cool kids are using TextMate (and I happily paid for my copy) I may just have to switch my allegiances to vim, and tailor it for the kind of work that I do—or write my own :)
